Geriatric Psychiatric The Medical
Geriatric Psychiatric Program at Jewish Memorial Hospital is designed to meet
the physical and psychological needs of older patients with acute psychiatric
disorders that require hospitalization. We serve patients with a wide range
of disorders, including those complicated by medical or neurological
problems. Our intensive program of activities and groups encourages patients
to regain their previous skills and independence in a setting compatible with
their present physical abilities. Our
psychiatrist, attending physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurse,
social worker, and case manager will develop a comprehensive individualized
treatment plan for every patient upon admission, with emphasis on providing
the patient every opportunity to function as independently as possible in
activities of daily living. A treatment goal is set for the patient to live
in the least restrictive environment, including discharge with the most
appropriate community support services. Care, treatment, and rehabilitation
is provided by our staff in collaboration with occupational therapy, social
services, and therapeutic programming. |
